Capsule Does Not Track You

Capsule does not track you. The Capsule iOS app sets no analytics or advertising cookies.

We do not show ads, we do not use advertising or tracking cookies, we do not follow you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. The only cookies Capsule sets are the essential, first-party cookies listed below, which keep you signed in and protect your account.

Essential Cookies

These cookies are set by capsl.life itself (first-party) and are needed for Capsule to work. They are not used for analytics or advertising and cannot be turned off.

• capsule-session — keeps you signed in as you move between pages. It holds your account ID and an expiry time, signed so it cannot be forged, and cannot be read by page scripts. It is renewed while you use Capsule, lasts up to 400 days and is cleared when you sign out.
• csrf-token — protects your account against cross-site request forgery. It expires after 10 minutes and is renewed while you use the app.
• __Host-capsule-mfa-step-up — set only after you confirm your identity with a two-factor backup code, so you can finish the action you started. It expires after 5 minutes.
• cookie_consent — website only. Remembers the choice you made on the capsl.life cookie notice in a web browser, for up to 1 year. The iOS app shows no cookie notice and never sets this cookie.

Storage on Your Device

Some information is kept in your device's own storage rather than in cookies. It stays on your device and is used only to run Capsule for you:

• Sign-in session: your login with our authentication provider, Supabase, is kept in local storage so you stay signed in.
• Preferences: choices such as your theme, recording mode and privacy mode.
• Your captures: stored in IndexedDB so Capsule works offline.
• Offline cache: a service worker caches app files for offline use.

Optional Product Analytics (Website Only)

On the capsl.life website, in a web browser, you can choose to share product analytics (PostHog), linked to your account ID and never your email or name, to help us improve Capsule. On the website, with your consent, PostHog may record how you use pages (session replays), linked to your account ID, with all page text and anything you type masked. It is off unless you turn it on. PostHog stores its data in your browser's local storage, not in cookies, and it is never used for advertising or to follow you across other sites.

Product analytics do not run in the Capsule iOS app at all, and the app never asks you about them. On the website, we also respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends either signal, analytics stay off. You can change your choice at any time from Profile → Manage Cookies on the website.

Security Checks

If a form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile bot protection, Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie to tell people from automated abuse. It is used only for that check. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Managing Cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Because the cookies above are essential, blocking them will sign you out or stop parts of Capsule from working.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, if necessary, asking for your consent again.
